Jonny Brodzinski named Wolf Pack captain for 2023-24 season

On Thursday, the Hartford Wolf Pack announced via X (formerly Twitter) that for the third year in a row, Jonny Brodzinski will serve as the team captain.

While this year serves as Brodzinski’s third year in a row as captain, it is his fourth year as a captain of some sort for the Wolf Pack after serving as the team’s alternate captain in the 2020-21 season.

Brodzinski has been in professional hockey since the 2015-16 season when he signed a two-year entry level contract with the Los Angeles Kings following three seasons as a standout forward at St. Cloud State University.

Brodzinski spent his first season exclusively with the Ontario Reign (AHL). After that, he spent the next three seasons bouncing between the Reign and the Kings before spending one season bouncing between the San Jose Sharks and San Jose Barracuda. Since then, Brodzinski has bounced between the New York Rangers and Hartford, never sticking in the NHL consistently.

In total Brodzinski has played in 101 NHL games (for the Kings, Sharks, and Rangers), scoring nine goals and tallying eight assists. He has played in 303 AHL games (six in the playoffs) where he has racked up 115 goals with 127 assists (242 points).

Brodzinski played the most games in his career in 2015-16 when he played in 65 games, but had the most points in the following season with 49 (27 goals, 22 assists).

The Wolf Pack open their preseason slate on Wednesday, October 4 with a game at Trinity College against their division rivals the Springfield Thunderbirds and following two preseason games against their in-state nemesis, the Bridgeport Islanders, they open the season on the road on Friday, October 13 against the Providence Bruins at Amica Mutual Pavillion
