The Calgary Wranglers dropped game two against the Coachella Valley Firebirds in a well-fought OT loss. The series is currently split at one apiece.
The Wranglers wasted no time. They came out with a new level of physicality and intensity.
Cole Schwindt scored a pair while Sam Morton scored his third goal in three playoff games.
Calgary’s Head Scratching Ending
Coachella Valley’s OT goal has many fans scratching their heads. There was a good chance the goal was offside and there were too many Firebirds on the ice.
Wranglers head coach Trent Cull told the media he believed it was a “good goal.”
Nachos fell victim to this Calgary loss.

Key Factors for Success in Coachella
Calgary looks to slay their biggest dragon by closing out the series back in Coachella. The Firebirds have dominated the Wranglers for the last two seasons, making them enemy number one. The next three games will have to have to match the intensity of game two.
Dustin Wolf had 26 saves in game two. He has not waivered in his ability or confidence. The most consistent thing about the Wranglers is of course being able to depend on Wolf.
The offense is there. The overtime loss was not for a lack of effort. The team carried the momentum from the third period into bonus hockey but could not capitalize. Cull told the media he wouldn’t change anything about the way they played.
Regular scoring leader Adam Klapka came up big for the Wranglers in game one. He has consistently been one of the better players on the ice.
Matt Coronato is snake-bitten. He had several opportunities to get on the board and was denied each time. All he needs is a successful opportunity and there’s a chance the monkey is finally off his back.

The Calgary Wranglers can’t get too much in their head about the loss. The three days off between game two and three allow them to mull it over and fix their shortcomings. The Wranglers and Coachella Valley Firebirds will faceoff Wednesday night at 8PM MT.
