The Ontario Reign have added a new defenceman in Wyatte Wylie, who comes to the Inland Empire from Lehigh Valley, where he has spent the last three seasons. He is a former 5th round draft pick of the Philadelphia Flyers.
Wylie played his junior hockey in Everett, finishing with 152 points in 272 games before turning pro and joining the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Over 131 games, he collected 35 points from the back end, including 9 goals. Last season he suited up for the Phantoms 45 times and recorded three goals and seven assists for ten points.
For a Reign team that could be missing key defencemen like Jordan Spence and Tobias Bjornfot this season, adding someone like Wylie helps bolster a depleted D core for the Reign. He joins Joe Hicketts and Steven Santini as one of the new faces on the blue line for the Reign, along with potential new players like Brandt Clarke and re-signing players like Tyler Inamoto.
The Ontario Reign season begins on Friday October 13th at home against rivals the San Diego Gulls.
