Providence, R.I. – The Cleveland Monsters visited Providence for a two game weekend set besting the Bruins in overtime on Friday and Sunday’s matinee in overtime 4-3. The Bruins opened the scoring in the first on a Max Jones deflection at the top of the crease that beat Monsters net minder Jet Greaves. Trailing 1-0, the Monsters Rocco Grimaldi would notch his first of two for the game with a power play tally to tie it just past the midway point of the second. The Bruins Marc McLaughlin gave the Bruins back the lead a few minutes later on a wrist shot from the slot. With 3:56 remaining in the period Tyler Pitlick found the back of the net and the period ended with a 3-1 lead. The Bruins had chances to close out the game on some Monsters defensive mistakes that gave them a 3 on 1 and two 2 on 1 breaks but failed to capitalize. Bruins killer Trey Fix-Wolanski parked at the top of the left crease put a rebound past Bruins goalie Micheal DiPietro with 7:46 remaining in the third that reignited the Monsters with a late surge that had Rocco Grimaldi get the tying score with 0:33 to play. The Monsters wasted no time getting the winner from Denton Mateychuk who whistled a shot that beat DiPietro high on the glove side 19 seconds into the overtime.
