Providence, R.I. – The Charlotte Checkers made their first appearance of the season in Providence on Sunday, suffering a 6-1 loss to the Bruins. Justin Brazeau led the team with two goals, and Mason Lohrei had three assists.
The Checkers’ only goal came from Wilmer Skoog in the second period. The Bruins have hit their stride and moved to second place in the Atlantic Division after a slow start to the season. They also sport the second-best record in the league as the schedule approaches the All-Star break.
The Bruins will be in Charlotte for two games to close out the first half of the schedule at the end of the week and then a big home game against division and league-leading Hershey Bears for the first game back after break on February 9.Â
