Matthew Coronato and Dustin Wolf Named to AHL All-Star Classic

The Calgary Wranglers leading scorer, Matthew Coronato, and goaltender Dustin Wolf have been named to the AHL All-Star Classic. The pair will represent the Wranglers in San Jose at the AHL All-Star Classic on February 5-6th.

This will be Coronato’s first trip to the AHL All-Star Classic. It’s a good thing he’ll have two-time all-star Dustin Wolf to show him around.

Both players have had a great first half of the season. Not many people expected either of them to be playing full-time in the AHL this season. The assumption was for them to be playing with the Calgary Flames, but things don’t always go as planned. The duo has been integral for the Wranglers’ success thus far.

Dustin Wolf Stays Winning

Wolf has had another stellar season with the Calgary Wranglers. Through 21 games played, he is among the top goalies in the league with his .930 SV% and 2.30 goals-against average.

This is his third season with the Wranglers. He has had over 100 games to get acclimated to the pros and find what works for him. Time and time again, Wolf has demonstrated that he is locked and loaded. He has a 15-4-1 record this season, accumulating four shutouts and bringing his career total up to eleven.

Coronato Can’t Stop Scoring

Coronato has racked up an impressive 28 points in 25 games. The 21-year-old started the season with the Calgary Flames but was sent down after only eleven games. He has been able to play consistent top-line AHL minutes and work on refining his skills. He spoke with team reporter Olivia McDonald and told her he hopes to take part in the shooting skills competition.

Before signing his entry-level contract, Coronato played two seasons at Harvard University and racked up 72 points in 64 games.  With only 36 professional games played, Coronato is still in the thick of his adjustment period. His strong performance and work ethic have made him an excellent choice for the All Star roster.

The All-Star Classic will be on TSN and RDS in Canada and NHL Network for those in the United States.
