Providence, R.I. – The Islanders visited Providence on Friday evening for the first game of the weekend against the first of the two Connecticut based Atlantic Division foes. Overall the game was a lackluster affair by the home team as the Islanders left town with the 3-2 victory. The Islanders Matthew Maggio would open the scoring at 2:38 into the first period and teammate Otto Koivula would tally their second with 3:03 left in the period. After a scoreless second period the Bruins would get on the scoreboard in the third on a goal by Marc McLaughlin and then get a tying goal from Justin Brazeau. With 35 seconds left in the third period the Islanders Cole Bardreau netted the game winner for the visitors.
