Roadrunners to Host “A Night with Steve Potvin”

Tucson, Arizona – The Tucson Roadrunners are kicking off the 2023-24 AHL season with “A Night with Steve Potvin.”

The Roadrunners, in partnership with Rudy’s Texas B-B-Q, will host the event at Rudy’s located at 2130 E Ajo Way. It will begin on Wednesday, August 16 at 6:30 p.m. The team is inviting hockey fans throughout southern Arizona to the free event.

“A Night with Steve Potvin” includes a 2023-24 Season Overview, “Hockey 101” session, and Q & A with the Tucson Roadrunners Head Coach.

Fans interested in submitting questions for Potvin can do so on the Tucson Roadrunner’s website. Tucson Roadrunners Season Ticket Members have an exclusive landing page to submit questions before the event.

A school supplies drive is also running in conjunction with the event. Roadrunners Mascot Dusty will collect school supplies for local students ahead of the 2023-24 school year. For each item donated, you will receive a ticket for a chance to win a gift card to Rudy’s Texas B-B-Q. Five gift cards will be given away, including one $50 grand prize gift card and four $25 gift cards.

Potvin a Wealth of Hockey Knowledge

For fans with questions about the future of the Tucson Roadrunners, the top prospects of the Arizona Coyotes, or hockey in general, there’s no one better to ask than Potvin.

Potvin is entering his seventh season behind the Tucson Roadrunners bench and his third year serving as Head Coach. He returned the Roadrunners to the Calder Cup Playoffs in 2022-23 with a franchise record of 219 goals scored. The Montreal, Quebec native also amassed 158 career American Hockey League games as a player from 1995 to 1999.

Potvin started his professional hockey career in the 1995-96 season with the AHL’s Portland Pirates and Baltimore Bandits, along with the ECHL’s Raliegh IceCaps. He first arrived in Arizona for the 2009-10 season, playing for the CHL’s Arizona Sundogs.
