San Diego Gulls Add A Forward And A Defenceman

The San Diego Gulls announced today that they have signed forward Eddie Matsushima and defenceman Anthony Costantini to one year SPCs (Standard Player Contracts) for the 2023-24 season.

Matshushima comes to the Gulls from the Tulsa Oilers of the ECHL, where he has played for the past two seasons. Previously he was in the SPHL with the Pensacola Ice Flyers, where he was loaned out to the Orlando Solar Bears, the Maine Mariners and the Worcester Railers, all of the ECHL. In three seasons with the ECHL, he has played 151 games and recorded 94 points, and is coming off a career high season where he recorded 47 points in 65 games.

Costantini is turning pro after four years with the Ottawa 67s, where he played 193 games over three seasons (losing the 2020-21 season to COVID-19 restrictions). In those three seasons he recorded 69 points, including 11 goals. Most recently he had a career high season in Ottawa with 36 points in 67 games, adding 2 assists in 9 playoff games for the 67s.

Both players will be making their AHL debuts with the Gulls.
