With the playoffs in the American Hockey League fast approaching, The Calder Times introduces a brand new podcast with a brand new vibe: The AHL Pre-Show. Join hosts Andrew Rinaldi, Samantha Wismer, and Deanna McFerron as they introduce themselves to a new audience on a new platform.
The AHL Pre-Show (styled as TAPS for short) brings a little bit of everything in its coverage. There’s a forward look to the week ahead in AHL action and previews to come with them. There’s a discourse on what to expect in the biggest games. Of course, there’s also the chaos that comes with the nature of the AHL that flows through our hosts.
In Episode Zero, the hosts set the tone early with the ladies bullying Andrew in an early preview of the Battle of the Genders. In a turnaround of fortune for Andrew’s beats, he finds both the Grand Rapids Griffins and Chicago Wolves in playoff positions as opposed to last season. The vibes are immaculate. Dea is less fortunate with the Laval Rocket finding it difficult to take off.
Bears, bears, and bears: oh my! Are we already bringing a mascot into the show before Episode One? For the sake of Andrew’s health hopefully not. For the Atlantic Division, they might not have a choice.
There are laughs. There are tears. The hosts bring up the questions that really matter: how long does a surfboard need to be to fit three people on it?
Ride the wave with Andrew, Sam, and Dea into the thick of the AHL season with The AHL Pre-Show!
